Dear Family and Friends,
On October 1, my dear friend Marion went to be with her Lord and Savior. I am so thankful that her passing was quick and painless. Over the past year and a bit I spent a lot of time with Marion. Through this time God taught me some important things. One of which is how important it is for us to take time out of our busy lives to spend quality time with people. It is so easy to get wrapped up in doing things that we forget how important it is to build relationships with people. As a teacher I am surrounded by people (staff and students), but so many times I get distracted by all that needs to get done and I forget that just being around people is not the same as spending quality time with them. It is important to plan and grade, but it is just as important to take the time to sit down and have conversations about life.
Marion was such a good example of trusting the Lord. She did not worry about the end of life. She left that up to God. I was blessed to be apart of her life and to witness God’s faithfulness to her. She may not have planned exactly where she would live or who would take care of her at the end of her life as she was single and without family ties, but because she fully trusted her life to the Lord, He took care of her. What a privilege to watch God bring people around her to help and take care of her. The verses from I Corinthians 12:12-26 come to mind where Paul describes the body of Christ, of how we fit together and work together. Watching believers come together to take care of Marion was amazing. Oh how I need to learn from her how to lean on the Lord and not worry about things I can not plan for or change.
Things at Faith are going well, though we are still lacking teachers. Praise God that we now have a guidance counselor in the middle school. I didn’t realize how much this position was needed until we were without a counselor. What a blessing it is to have this position filled. Please continue to pray for another grade 6 teacher and a middle school ELL (English Language Learner) teacher.
On Wednesdays, during Activity period when the students spend time reading, two other teachers and I have the privilege to spend time talking with groups of girls delving deeper into how we can continue to grow spiritually. These are times that I cherish as I get the opportunity to spend quality time building into the lives of the girls in middle school. Please pray that these times will be fruitful and meaningful to all the girls.
A Heart for the Children,
